Urgent needs due to COVID-19
WE NEED YOU- PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!
The Gingerbread House is continuing to see child abuse victims for forensic interviews and crisis counseling appointments as we have been for the past three weeks without interruption of services because abuse does not ever stop, not even during a pandemic. As such, we are running very low on disinfecting supplies. We are sending out an S.O.S. to our community to help us - if you can donate any of the below disinfecting supplies we would be most grateful. We are doing everything we can to keep our staff and clients safe while still operating during this difficult time.
Needed items:
• Gloves
• Lysol spray
• Clorox/Lysol disinfecting wipes
• Hand sanitizer
• Bleach
Please also help us by SHARING this information with your friends and family so that we can reach more people who may be able to help!
Year-Round Needs
Toys/Refreshment Drive
The Gingerbread House provides a stuffed animal, toy, or book to each child following the initial forensic interview. The Gingerbread House also provides soft drinks, water, individually packaged fruit juices, and “Little Debbie”–type snacks for victims and their families. These items help to lift the spirits of young children who have experienced the trauma of sexual or severe physical abuse.
Forensic Interview Rooms
Due to our case load, we use approximately 148 DVD-R’s per month (2 DVD-R’s per child). Sketch pads and washable markers are used during interviews for the family drawings.
Play Therapy Rooms
Family Advocacy
The Family Advocacy Program has two opportunities for volunteer involvement. Our Back to School Program takes place during the summer months before school starts back. In November we begin our Sponsor a Family for Christmas Program.
